They tell you how love should look,
how relationships should unfold,
which milestones to reach,
which promises to make,
which traditions to preserve.
You listen,
but something within you
does not quite settle.
Perhaps you love without needing
to follow every familiar ritual.
Perhaps closeness means something different’
from what the world has taught you’.
You may choose solitude
where others seek belonging,
simplicity where others seek ceremony,
freedom where others expect conformity.
Not because you cannot love,
but because love, to you,
may need a language of its own.
Yet standing outside convention
does not always mean freedom.
Sometimes, you question a rule
because it no longer serves you.
Sometimes, you reject it
before discovering what it means.
The challenge is not to follow’
or to oppose the expected script.
It is to understand
which parts of it are truly yours
and which you have outgrown.
You do not owe the world’
a life that looks familiar.
Nor must you reject belonging
to prove that you are different.
There is room for a love
that honours tradition by choice,
and a love that finds its own way
without asking permission.
